There is a public notice posted along all major thoroughfares in Oasis, as well as on the job board, in front of the Sheriff’s Office, and pretty much everywhere else there could conceivably be traffic to see it. It reads as follows, in all languages:

“CITIZENS OF OASIS: Due to the recent betrayal of one of our council members, Scholar, and a portion of our Town Militia and private citizens that aided him, the Town Council of Oasis (such as it is, with one surviving member) is hereby disbanded. All duties previously addressed by the Council will now fall to a Commander-appointed Triumvirate of three trusted individuals, with overriding power on all matters given to the Commander. All previous official positions of Oasis are hereby nulled, and will need to be confirmed by the Triumvirate to be reinstated, enforced with the use of an Oath Pen. This applies to magistrates, deputies, sheriffs, all public planners, etc., with the exception of town deputies Kei and Aegis, who are still employed.

FURTHER: All transactions within Oasis now carry a 10% tax to Oasis, the distribution and spending of which is decided by the Triumvirate and the Commander. This is to support military, reconstruction, and relief efforts.

FURTHER: There is now a 2200 to 0600 curfew in place in Oasis proper, excluding the Fringe. Any citizens or residents found violating this curfew are subject to imprisonment and questioning for not less than one week. This is to protect Oasis from assault, as unquestioned outsiders passing through our streets late Saturday led to the enemy forces gathering before the alarm was raised.

FURTHER: All residents of Oasis and the Fringe must be evaluated for combat capability. Testing will be administered by the Town’s deputies and military officers, and selected supporting staff. All residents found capable of combat or combat assistance must serve in shifts on the Oasis Military.

FURTHER: Duke, previously Sheriff of Oasis, is hereby appointed Commander of Oasis.

    In Unity Lies Safety
    Commander Duke.”

The figure of Flash will walk up to the notice and shake his head. He placed another peace of paper next to the notice and walked away. The paper was written in Terran

    “OASIS-
Violence doesn’t discriminate. It hits all of us… the rich, the poor, the healthy, the sick. It comes as cold and bracing as a winter breeze off the tallest mountains. Until it sinks into your bones… leaving you with a chill you can’t shake. They say there’s not rest for the wicked. But what about the good? The battle of Good vs. Evil is never-ending… because evil always survives… with the help of evil men. As for all of us, this is a city born of heroes. We’re not just our failures. As much as they hurt, we learn from them. Then we go out there and do our best to make up for them– Even though we never will. We save people. We save as many as we can to make up for the ones we couldn’t. That’s all we do. Things aren’t always what they seem. Our fears can play tricks on us, making us afraid to change course, afraid to move on, but usually, hidden behind our fears are second chances waiting to be seized, second chances at life, at glory, at family, at love. And these opportunities don’t come around every day, so when they do, we have to be brave, take a chance, and grab them while we can.”

Dusk tips his hat back as he reads the notice from commander Duke. “What a load of horseshit.” He says and spits off to the side while lighting another cigarette.

Flash will give a nod as he passes Dusk. As Dusk looks Flash’s face will be covered in different colored Tendrils. Red, Black and Orange Tendrils covered his face and most of the exposed skin.

Husk posts four new pages to the board, directly next to the page posted by Flash. Each one contains Flash’s message in a different language: Fey, Beastman, Dwarven and Felinae.

Another notice is placed in all public locations as a follow up, also transcribed into all languages.

“CITIZENS OF OASIS: It has become apparent that there is concern about this change in leadership. To address these concerns and provide a public forum for conversation, there will be an open meeting in three day’s time in the field of rubble that used to be the Council Building. The delay is to give workers time to clear the field and make it usable again, and is the only location within Oasis’s walls large enough to hold such a meeting.

A black cloaked figure walked up to the boards reading over the new notice, the figure shook its head. “This is how it starts.” Came a deep angry voice. The figure reached up and pinned a small notice next to the new one on the board. In Terran it read. “Those who would trade essential liberties for a fraction of safety deserve neither liberty or safety. Stay strong Oasis.” At the bottom of the notice was a upside down Anarchy symbol he circle in all black, the main body of the A in red and the line through the center in orange.

(Duke’s office is locked while he’s away – the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office is open, though it is currently empty)
