Husk approaches the shrine of life, concern covering every part of his demeanor. He unhooks his chain, kneels and begins to chant.

“Anál nathrach, orth’ bháis’s bethad, do chél dénmha. Anál nathrach, orth’ bháis’s bethad, do chél dénmha.”

Husk stops chanting and speaks softly, his voice still smooth from the blessing of the Moon Goddess, “Guidance. I need guidance. The Old Masters stay one step ahead of our ragtag resistance. We need to get ahead of them. We need to be able to fight them on our terms, not theirs. Guidance . . . Hear me . . .”

His voice breaking, almost pleading, “Hear me . . . Anál nathrach, orth’ bháis’s bethad, do chél dénmha. Anál nathrach, orth’ bháis’s bethad, do chél dénmha.”
