The cheery lights of the tavern beckon to you, sounds of music and laughter drifting into the clear evening air. Upon entry you find the room to be well decorated for the occasion. Bunting in shades of blue, green, and purple adorn the walls. Each table has been draped in colorful cloth and carefully arranged floral centerpieces have been set on them. A table near the back of the room is loaded with food. Looking over the spread you see platters of fruit, cheese, roasted meat, and baked goods. The bar is well stocked with both soma and alcohol.
Laurel is there, making final adjustments to the decor and greeting people as they arrive. She is wearing a long multicolor floral dress. An older Terran man in colorful garments, who she introduces as her father Ronan, sits nearby.

Dusk approaches the tavern, a smile on his face. He has bought new clothes for the evening though his brown coat and hat are in attendance as well. His shirt and pants are clean and free from road dust and he is wearing a new vest. He approaches the front of the tavern and calls out to both Laurel and her father. “Evenin you two.” he pulls a bouquet of flowers from his coat and a small box, handing them to Miss Laurel. “And for you as well Mr. Ronan.” from his other pocket he produces a clear bottle with a strange liquid inside. (It resembles a lava lamp). “This here is something special I procured a while back. I know you are still recovering so this is a mellow alcohol that also has some medicinal properties. Helps with sleep and relaxes you. I hope it brings you joy.”

Lola approaches with a bright smile and a freshly ironed pink sweater-vest on, wings aflutter with excitement. In her hands she holds a box wrapped in shimmering yellow wrapping paper and a glittery bow on top. Her tail swishes back and forth with excitement as she nearly skips up to to the party, waiting politely for Dusk to finish giving his presents before offering the box to Ronan. “For you, sir!”

Doctor Caulder arrives, dressed not in his usual sordid labcoat but rather a business-casual vest over a dress shirt.

He stands by one of the wooden beams outside the tavern and observes as Lola and Dusk interact with the older Terran man.

Robert attempts to slink in, close to unnoticed, using Dr. Caulder for cover. He is not “dressed up” in the normal sense, but his shirt and pants show a distinct lack of blood, dirt, and holes, which is perhaps a first since he arrived. He attempts to slink into a corner and wait for more people to show up, and be a part of the scene when they arrive, rather than make a notable entrance of his own.

Laurel smiles at Dusk as he enters “good evening, handsome” she takes the flowers and box gratefully “oh Dusk, you shouldn’t have. You’ve done so much to help me make tonight happen. I have something for you too, actually.” She grabs a box from a nearby table and hands it to him, then excitedly opens her gift. Upon seeing the ornate pitch pipe, she gasps with delight. “It’s absolutely beautiful!” she pulls him close for a lingering kiss.

Ronan accepts the bottle graciously “thank you! I’m sure it will” he sets the bottle down and turns to greet Lola with a warm smile. “Welcome! And thank you, as well. I wasn’t expecting such generosity. It’s truly appreciated.” He begins carefully unwrapping the package.

Lola smiles brightly. Inside the package he will find a carefully knit, soft and very colorful scarf. “It’s getting cold out. Thought it might be good to have something to keep you warm, and I remembered you might like bright things from your coat at the gathering. How are you faring?”

“This is so thoughtful, thank you!” Ronan drapes the scarf around his neck “I’m doing well, my recovery has been very smooth so far. Knock on wood!” he adds with a laugh “I hope you and your household are doing well. Laurel and I are both very grateful for the help you’ve given us.”

Dusk smiles at the kiss and moves into the party itself. For the moment he pockets the gift, wanting to open it later on. He moves through the area exchanging pleasantries with those already there and moves to the bar.

Quietly, Caulder tilts his head over to Robert and asks.

“… Do you know the occasion for these festivities?”

Robert scoffs, then produces a crumpled invitation from his pocket and hands it over. “Guess you weren’t invited, huh? Big surprise. ”

The invitation reads ” You are cordially invited to a celebration in honor of Ronan’s return. Join us for drinks and merriment at the Tipsy Bard tavern”

“We’re celebrating the return of her dad.”

After taking a moment to put the bouquet in a vase at the bar, Laurel moves about the party greeting people and chatting. “I’m glad you could come, Lola!” Laurel gives her a hug, careful not to disturb her wings. “Get some food, make yourself comfortable. Tonight we relax and celebrate!” She continues making her way around the room.

“Caulder I… wasn’t expecting to see you here. You’re welcome to stay and celebrate of course, so long as you refrain from any business. I only allow good times at my parties, that’s a rule!” It’s clear that she isn’t thrilled to see him, but it doesn’t put a damper on her celebratory mood.

Laurel turns to Robert with a playful grin “you clean up well enough!” she teases. “Thank you for coming, please treat yourself to food and drink. You know, both you and my father are from earth. Different times, but it seems like the same world. You two should chat!”

Dusk makes his way around the room from the bar and brings Laurel a drink from the bar. “You are a born hostess Miss Laurel” he says with a peck on her cheek if allowed. ” Let me know when you are done welcoming guests so I can steal you for a dance iffn yer interested.”

“The tavern is a regular place of discourse for most of the Fringe, myself included. Hosting an invitation-only event within seems difficult to enforce, at best,” he comments toward Robert, though absent of a protesting tone.

He lifts his chin up and nods at Laurel, and gives her a smile that, typical of Caulder, is absent of any real warmth or emotion.
“But of course, Laurel. I fully intend to respect the decorum of this merry event. May I procure from you a drink? Is there a charge?”

Robert replies “No, its not invite only, but if laurel wanted you to be here, she would have made sure you got one and knew it was happening, you think?”

He takes a sip of his drink before turning to go speak with Robin.

“Hey Ronin, I know we met when you first got cured, but I was in a really weird space then. I know you’re from earth, and that’s how laurel learned all the earth songs she knows. It’s been one of the few things keeping me partly sane around here, and I wanted to Express my admiration for the daughter you’ve raised.” He tries to say this when Laurel is not listening, lest she hear him compliment her.
